I am in the practice of consultation to the pharmaceutical industry, venture capital, and government in the development and marketing of psychotropic drugs. As my background is in psychiatry and sleep research, most of my work is related to sleeping pills, antidepressants, and tranquilizers.  I am also available for serving as an expert witness in legal matters involving sleep disorders, issues of sleep deprivation, and matters related to psychotropic medications.

A brief summary of my background is that before entering consulting practice, I was a Professor of Psychiatry and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Chicago. I am board certified in Psychiatry (1976) and in Sleep Disorders Medicine (1983).  I am a past President of the Sleep Research Society, and at earlier points in my career have been director of the Sleep Disorders Center at the Cleveland Clinic and Chief of the Section on Sleep Studies at the Intramural Program of the National Institute of Mental Health.  I have published approximately 190 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, and authored or co-authored three books in the area of sleep research and pharmacology.
