Hurricane Ike

 

 

On the night of September 13, 2008, Hurricane Ike visited Galveston.  We fled to the mainland the day before, and settled for a few months in Austin. Sadly, our house was flooded with two feet of muddy water, the Nash and truck were submerged up to the door handles, and the boat damaged.  Here is what it looked like in Galveston:

Here is a fishing pier and restaurant, which was ultimately completely washed away:

Happily, as I write this in early 2010, Galveston is pretty much rebuilt, our house and boat restored.
